A co-creative mythic journey, exploring immersive storytelling, nature connection and ritual - Half-day retreat
Come celebrate Samhain & the winter season with OATH (Cáit & Francesco) and renowned storyteller Douglas McKay, for a day in the magical and enchanting Roslyn glen forest, journeying through abundant nature and honouring this time of reflection, inner brewing and creative incubation.
Rosemary, Yew & the Cailleach’s Cauldron
The Celtic wheel has moved forward once more, and here we are in Samhain.
North, earth, winter, darkness.
The callieach rules for months to come.
Children are dearly welcomed, with the awareness that it will be a day of ritual and reflection, and that the route is muddy and slippy at points. Ideally attendees aim to come for the full day, and you know best if that length of time is manageable (can obviously leave if u need)
There will be one section of the day where one facilitator can be with the wee’uns while care givers / parents will have reflection time and space (with everyones consent of course
The Callieach is sleet and rockface, mountains and gale, roots and snow, winter’s harshness and winter’s wisdom.
What do we need to put into the Cailleach’s cauldrons in order to flourish through winter?
What needs to shapeshift inside and outside before our inspiration is born?
What wisdom and words lie within the elements of the land?
With the help of the sacred yew and rosemary, we will connect with our ancestors of bone and stone, the oldest ancestors of the land, our more than human community.
Join us for another adventure day of immersive storytelling in the magical Roslin Glen, Samhain edition.
We will experience embodied movement, nature connection, ritual, poetry and have reflection / creativity time.
We will share an old style ceilidh ~ a gathering where stories and songs are shared around a warm fire.
Bring offering for the land (such as native plants or seeds), a notebook and pen, a story, song, poem, craft, prayer or your fine ears and eyes to share around the fire.
The whole experience will enable you to slow down, taking time to explore some treasures hidden in the Roslyn forest
Important Note:
Wear scottish winter appropriate clothing and sturdy mud appropriate boots
BRING A LIGHT OR HEADTORCH for these darker days (we will safely lead you back out of woods to roslin chapel car park).
Physical ability: We will remain on well trodden and marked paths of the glen, though these can still be fairly muddy and are unfortunately not wheelchair accessible.
